Liverpool looking at right-back who has more assists than Trent Alexander-Arnold this season

Liverpool may soon have to make a change in the right-back position.

Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid, and there may need to be some evolution in that spot over the next 12 months.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract is up in the summer, and while Liverpool are hopeful of agreeing a new deal, as of yet, there’s been no concrete developments on that front.

Conor Bradley has earned huge praise recently for his performances at right-back, but now, Liverpool are looking at one of the brightest young full-backs in Europe.

Indeed, the Reds are eyeing Porto’s Martim Fernandes.

Liverpool eyeing Martim Fernandes

TBR Football understands Porto’s teenage full-back Martim Fernandes is being tracked by a host of clubs after breaking into the first team at Estadio do Dragao.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are just some of the sides who have been alerted to the form of Fernandes and have been watching checking on him in recent weeks.

18-year-old Fernandes made his debut last term under Sergio Conceicao but it is current boss Vitor Bruno who has given him his real chance.

Fernandes has started nine games this season and already has four assists to his name.

The attack-minded teenager is seen as a player of huge potential, and is a key reason why number of European clubs are watching him.

As well as the Premier League outfits – Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain have watched Fernandes this season.

Martim Fernandes compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold

Fernandes would be an exciting signing for any Premier League side, but a move to Liverpool would be incredibly intriguing.

With Alexander-Arnold’s future up in the air, the Reds may soon need a new right-back, and Fernandes looks the perfect heir to Alexander-Arnold’s throne.

Indeed, statistically, these two match up really well.

Of course, Alexander-Arnold has been performing at an elite level for years at this point, while Fernandes is only now having his breakout season, so it isn’t necessarily fair to compare the two in this way.

However, at the age of just 18, there’s every chance Fernandes continues to get better and better, and if he does follow that linear path of development, he could grow to become a superstar.

This young man is certainly a player to keep an eye on as he continues to impress at Porto.
