Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg was the unfortunate party who scored an own goal for Preston North End last night.

Nightmare night

The defender, who Jurgen Klopp decided to loan out for the season, was trying to cover back for his side when his tackle inadvertently beat his own goalkeeper, in what was a nightmare moment.

That was the only goal of the game between Preston and Huddersfield Town, as North End fell to their third straight defeat to start the season.

It was a disappointing night for the Liverpool loanee, but most fans actually sympathised with the teenager.

And Van den Berg’s pace, as he attempted to get back, actually caught the eye of plenty of Liverpool fans.

Pace increase

Van Den Berg has actually expressed a desire to break back into Liverpool’s team when he does return.

The Dutch youngster is now well into his second season on loan at Preston, where he has been a regular starter in the Championship.

But forcing his way into Klopp’s plan could be tough, especially after Liverpool reinforced their defence with the signing of Ibrahima Konate this summer.
