Liverpool loan watch: goals galore, Woodburn starts and youngster continues to thrive
Liverpool’s first team maintained their 100% start to the season with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
The Reds loanees also enjoyed a terrific week away from Anfield with an abundance of goals and assists, here is how they got on this weekend.
Danny Ings – Southampton
Ings made his full debut for the Saints on Saturday afternoon and made an instant impact scoring their only goal in a 2-1 defeat of Everton at Goodison Park.
Taiwo Awoniyi – Gent
Awoniyi opened his Gent account this weekend, scoring in a 3-1 Europa League win over Jagiellonia, which helped his side qualify for the fourth qualifying round of the competition.
Harry Wilson – Derby County
Wilson showed some of the form the previously produced in the Championship last season for Hull City as his new side beat Oldham 2-0 in the League Cup.
Wilson grabbed himself an assist in delivering an exquisite free-kick into the box from which Fikayo Tomori converted to put the Rams 1-0 up on the night.
However, he missed a chance to build on this promising performance when he suffered a muscle injury which ruled him out of the action against Millwall on Saturday.
Ben Woodburn – Sheffield United
Two starts came along in the space of a week for Woodburn, who had only seen appearances from the bench in his first four games for the Sheffield club.
Woodburn was subbed, however, in his first league start at halftime after a very disappointing performance from the 19-year-old.
Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent – Rangers
Both Liverpool loanees have featured heavily for Rangers during their opening weeks of the season.
They continued their good run of form by progressing to the fourth round of qualifying for the Europa League and reaching the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
Adam Bogdan – Hibernian
Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan recovered from injury to feature in Hibernian’s second leg Europa League tie against Molde, where the Scottish side crashed out of the competition with a 3-0 loss.
Bogdan then missed Hibernian’s Scottish League Cup tie on Sunday due to his reoccurring hip injury.
