Liverpool-linked Julian Brandt comments on his future

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt has delivered an update about his future, amid recent links to Premier League side Liverpool.

The Germany international is seemingly focused on helping Leverkusen on securing a Europa League finish.

Currently the team are in ninth place on 42 points and are three behind Wolfsburg in sixth.

Brandt has been having a good season on a personal level having been involved in 18 goals this term (seven goals, 11 assists), which has led to speculation about him leaving at the end of the season.

Liverpool have recently been linked with another move for Brandt () after rejecting the chance to swoop in the summer of 2017 (), when they signed Mo Salah instead.

Speaking on his future, Brandt told SportBild (): “I will make up my mind, but not during the season. For me, the club and the present is too important.”

“If I was only concerned about that then my performance would suffer as well. It is something the club, who have given me confidence over the years, do not deserve.”

TBR’s view

Clearly Brandt isn’t prepared to give anything away about his end-of-season intentions just yet, with Leverkusen in a battle for Europe.

The 22-year-old supposedly has a very low release clause of £21.4 million (), which makes him a very enticing option.

But Liverpool have many options in midfield, and it would be difficult to see where he would fit in since he now operates more centrally.

Perhaps Adam Lallana may move on at the end of the season, which could potentially open the door for Liverpool to swoop.
