Liverpool: Klopp discusses Coutinho rumours; award for fans; winger talks interest

Jurgen Klopp has had to again reiterate that he has no interest in allowing Philippe Coutinho to leave the club amid interest from Barcelona and a host of other top European clubs as he :

“We never had any ideas or plans or any talks about him leaving, because he is our player – there are no other ideas, nothing has changed. It would be nice if big clubs forgot about a player completely because he’s been injured for five or six weeks. I’m not sure it’s like this though, but he is our player and that is it.”

The Brazilian is expected to make a return to first team action tomorrow in time for the EFL Cup semi-final first leg since picking up an ankle ligament injury in December.

At FIFA’s award ceremony in Zurich on Monday evening, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund fans were award the first ever FIFA Fan Award for their rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone ahead of the Europa League quarter-final clash between the two sides at Anfield last season.

The song is of huge importance to both clubs and has symbolic meaning to both sets of fans in what was an exciting game with Jurgen Klopp the centre of attention in a great atmosphere.

However, even the lure of Klopp may not be enough to tempt Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt to consider a move after he revealed that he could stay at his current club despite interest from Merseyside, :

“I would not be scared to dismiss Bayern [Munich] for a second time. The same goes for other clubs, too. Of course [a new Leverkusen deal] is possible. I feel very comfortable here and I know what I’ve got here. We’re constantly in good talks. If it were up to me, the summer would be the right time to reveal a decision. I don’t want to deal with this forever. It gets annoying and performances will suffer because of it.”

The young German has been touted as one to watch after a string of good performances in the Bundesliga, but he could now stay there until the summer at the earliest.
