Liverpool interest confirmed as rising star admits Arne Slot’s side are scouting him

Jamie Carragher was right, it seems, when the Anfield icon highlighted an area of Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad which looks ripe for reinforcement.

Despite an impressive showing as 🎶Liverpool narrowly beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park in Saturday’s early kick off, Kostas Tsimikas꧃ continues to feel like a reliable squad player rather than one capable of nailing down a place in Slot’s XI.

Andy Robertson, meanwhile, will turn 31 next year.

𝕴The Scot, unless he has proven to be more successful than madcap tech mogul Bryan Johnson in reversing the ageing process, is not getting any younger.

So the Anfield hero might have had a point when 🅰Carragher said that Liverpool may soon find themselves in the market for a new left-sided defender.

🌱If they can find a left-back versatile enough to provide cover at centre-half, then all the better. Carragher feels that his beloved Reds would benefit from signing a player in the Nathan Ake mould. And perhaps this is where Daniel Svensson comes in.

Liverpool eye Nordsjaelland ace Daniel Svensson

A left-sided full-back who can also play at centre-half, in defensive midfield and even on the right, Swede 𝓡Svensson has been labelled a ‘coach’s dream’ by his Nordsjaelland boss Jens Olsen.

🔯And while a little-known 22-year-old plying his trade in the Danish top flight is hardly the sort of signing that would make too many headlines, it is worth remembering that few expected Robertson to be such a success when he joined Liverpool after Hull City were relegated nearly a decade ago.

💖Speaking to , Svensson has now confirmed that those Liverpool links do, indeed, hold water. The six-time European champions have sent scouts to watch the Sweden Under-21 international in the flesh.

🌃“[The transfer rumours are] great fun, of course. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right and performing well,” Svensson smiles. “I just take it as fuel to run on.

🌊“It was obviously a bit surreal. It was perhaps not entirely expected that I would get to read about it I don’t know much about it.

🤪“I only know that [Liverpool] watched some matches and such. More than that, I don’t know.”

🐠Svensson is now in his fifth season at Nordsjaelland, having joined from IF Brommapojkarna in his homeland back in 2020.

🅺By his own admission, Svensson is keen to leave the relatively small pond that is Scandinavian football sooner rather than later, with a January move also not off the cards even if it is unlikely.

Svensson opens up on January switch as Liverpool send scouts

🤡“The idea is that I will move on relatively soon,” Svensson adds. “It is absolutely not impossible [that I leave in the winter]. But it might happen that I play the whole season and then move on.

♏“The club has said that they want to keep certain players for the rest of the season and I seem to be one of those players. It is likely that I will stay for the rest of the season.”

𒅌Svensson insists that, when choosing his next club, game time will be one of the key factors in driving his decision.

🐓That could be the biggest drawback towards a potential switch to Anfield, with Robertson likely to remain Liverpool’s number one left-back even if the long-serving wideman is not quite the same irrepressible force of old.

ꦏ“The most important thing is that I get playing time,” Svensson says. “It is still a step where I want to take to continue developing. I do that by playing. The most important thing is that I come to a club that has a good plan for me.

“Which league it is, it doesn’t really matter.

ಌ“I have played many seasons in Denmark and, especially [in recent times], it has gone well. I’m absolutely ready.”
