Liverpool have made ‘mesmerising’ attacker their surprise choice to replace Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is one of Liverpool’s most important players, yet the time is soon coming for when the Anfield side need to replace the attacker.

The Egyptian international’s contract expires at the end of this season, with Liverpool expected to find it hard to keep Salah with the winger still attracting strong interest from Saudi Arabia having been subject to bids last summer.

Although Salah is expected to remain with the Reds this window, the Reds need to be considering a replacement for the former AS Roma star, with Liverpool now linked with Federico Chiesa heading into deadline day.

Yet there’s another player Liverpool have eyed as a potential replacement for Salah.

Takefusa Kubo top of Liverpool’s list of potential Salah replacements

According to , Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo has been identified as Liverpool’s surprise top option to replace Salah, with the Japanese international not the big-name player some Anfield supporters were expecting.

Lauded by as a ‘mesmerising’ attacker, Kubo is regarded as one of the most exciting forwards in La Liga and a key reason behind Sociedad’s impressive success in recent seasons.

A winger known for being more of a playmaker than a direct goalscorer compared to Salah, a move for Kubo could represent a new shift in Liverpool’s attack under Arne Slot, who could favour a creative option in the front-line to get the best out of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

Indeed, Kubo would be an interesting option for Liverpool as a replacement for Salah, yet the Japanese international could be a good fit for the Reds if a deal can be reached with Sociedad before the transfer window closes this week.

Kubo could be an exciting long-term signing for the Reds

Kubo might not be what Liverpool fans had in mind when it came to the long-term replacement of Salah, yet the former Real Madrid and FC Barcelona wonderkid could be an exciting signing for the Merseyside giants.

At 23-years-old, Kubo still has a lot to learn despite already being one of the best young wingers in world football, with the Japanese international a player who could also suit playing in the Premier League for Liverpool.

Moreover, a deal could be easy enough to reach if Liverpool are willing to make the first move for Kubo, who could be tempted with a switch to Anfield if the Reds are quick off the line for the forward.
