Liverpool have ‘definitely’ scouted £60m Premier League midfielder who Jamie Carragher really likes

A journalist has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in a highly-rated Premier League player.

Liverpool have made a slow start to the summer transfer window as they’re yet to make their first signing of the Arne Slot era.

With the Premier League campaign now fast approaching, The Reds are expected to ramp up their business.

With that said, it has just come to light that they have scouted a Premier League midfielder.

Liverpool have scouted Adam Wharton

According to journalist , via , Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is a player Liverpool have scouted and kept tabs on.

“Adam Wharton is definitely someone Liverpool have watched,” Lynch said.

“They’ve liked him in the past.”

Having signed for Palace in the Janaury transfer window for a fee of around £22m, any forthcoming suitor will have to pay around £60m to land his signature.

Even then, it seems unlikely Palace would be willing to part ways with the 20-year-old, who made the England Euro 2024 squad.

Jamie Carragher really likes Adam Wharton

Former Liverpool defender turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher waxed lyrical about Wharton after his display against Chelsea last season.

“I was impressed with him. It’s another step, he’s a young player,” Carragher said.

“This is in the game against Chelsea and I thought he put in a very promising performance that bodes well going forward for Crystal Palace.

“If Palace can stay in the Premier League I think he is a player we are going to be talking about a lot in the future.”

If Wharton continues to shine at Selhurst Park this season, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see Liverpool lodge a bid in a year’s time given how long they’ve tracked his progress.
