Liverpool fans urge Jurgen Klopp not to replace defender with Sepp van den Berg
Liverpool are set to be without Virgil van Dijk possibly for the remainder of the season but it’s clear that supporters don’t think his compatriot Sepp van den Berg is capable of stepping into the breach.
The teenager has made some appearances for the Reds in the cup competitions last season and naturally, he will be linked with promotion now Van Dijk is missing.
The 18-year-old arrived at Liverpool from Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle and last season featured four times for the club.
He was on the bench earlier during the current campaign in a 7-2 win over Lincoln City but wasn’t introduced into the action.

Van Dijk was injured by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
He will now have surgery on a torn ACL and is set for several months on the sidelines as he teammates try and retain the Premier League title.
Since his arrival in 2018, the centre-back has become one of the best central defenders in world football and the star will be sorely missed.
Talk on social media has turned to who might replace him and fans are in no doubt that although the teen is a bright prospect, it’s far too soon for him to be considered.
Here is a selection of Tweets from Liverpool fans on the possibility of Van Den Berg stepping up.
I wouldn’t have any hope of him starting. Williams and Phillips so clear of him

I understand that you are trying to support a fellow Dutchman, however, he is no where near the level required currently. He is young however so we remain hopeful that he can reach the potential sought of him in Holland. He still needs a couple more years of development minimum.

I’d really want that to happen but as far as I see that’s not happening. I hope he proves me horribly wrong though even though I think both Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips are ahead of him in the pecking order.
