Liverpool fans unimpressed with Rhian Brewster after enthralling Arsenal clash
Liverpool finally came out on top in an end-to-end Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal at Anfield on Wednesday night that finished 5-5 before The Reds won on penalties – but Liverpool fans are unimpressed by striker Rhian Brewster.
In a topsy-turvy game, Shkodran Mustafi put through his own net after a good cross from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. But Arsenal pegged the Reds back immediately, Lucas Torreira tapping home from close range after a Caoimhin Kelleher save.
A bit of a scramble inside the Liverpool area then saw Gabriel Martinelli fire into the roof of the net, and the on-fire Brazilian doubled his tally after a neat pass from Bukayo Saka. Martinelli, 18, now has seven goals for Arsenal this season.
Harvey Elliot won a penalty for James Milner to score – making it 3-2 at half-time. But Milner’s poor pass allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to score, after some tunning invention from Mesut Ozil. But Arsenal squandered another two-goal lead.

Divock Origi got his first of the night after a neat turn and finish, before Oxlade-Chamberlain smashed home an effort from 20 yards – 4-4. The impressive Joe Willock then looked as though he had won it with a curling effort past Kelleher from 25 yards.
But Origi has other ideas. After late goals in the Champions League semi-final and final last season, he netted in the 94th minute to send the match to immediate penalties. Dani Ceballos was the only man to miss, meaning Liverpool won 5-4 on pens.
For Brewster, it was a largely frustrating night. The 19-year-old showed plenty of work rate but was ultimately outshone by Martinelli, who is even younger than the English striker. He did score in the penalty shootout.
However, some Liverpool fans were critical of Brewster – many claiming the hype surrounding the England youth international is too much.
Based on our two league matches thus far, imo only Jones and Elliot are close to ready for the 1st team squad this season. Brewster still doesnt look that convincing

As much I want it, I don’t think that Brewster will make it at LFC. Hope im wrong.

Other than Divock, it was the senior players who honestly looked a little shaky tonight, Ox played well. Slightly disappointed with Naby and Brewster but might be a bit harsh considering overall lack of game time this season.
