Liverpool fans think £85m player has just said goodbye to supporters online amid transfer rumours
Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with the Uruguayan likely to be sold this summer.
The 25-year-old, under contract until 2028, has attracted interest from several clubs, particularly in the Saudi Pro League.
Atletico Madrid are also interested in Nunez, with the Spanish heavyweights seeking a replacement for Angel Correa.
Speculation is increasing as the summer approaches. Nunez looks set to leave Liverpool this summer, and fans think he may have said his goodbyes.

Liverpool fans react to Darwin Nunez’s social media post
Liverpool held a massive parade on Monday to celebrate their Premier League win, with an estimated 1.5m people on the streets to celebrate with the team.
The scenes were incredible, with many Liverpool players expressing their gratitude to the fans on social media.
Darwin Nunez is the latest, as he posted a couple of pictures from the parade on X, along with the caption: ‘Unforgettable. Thank you, Liverpool.’
Liverpool fans were quick to react to his message, with many taking it as a goodbye message from the striker ahead of the summer window.
One fan said: ‘Is this a goodbye??????????’
Another asked: ‘Is he leaving? Is that a goodbye post?’
Many thanked him for his contributions and wished him luck. One wrote: It’s so sad it didn’t work for you, wish you all the best in the world football! You’re a Premier League champion.’
Another said: ‘Best of luck Darwin. Always a good character for the team, wish you the best.’
‘Wishing you luck in your next chapter’, one more said.
Another wished him luck for the future while remembering his memorable winner vs Brentford earlier this season. ‘I’ll never forget that Brentford late double. If you do leave, wish you all the best.’
Darwin Nunez’s impact at Liverpool amid inconsistency
Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool in June 2022 for a club-record fee of £85m. He made an explosive start, scoring in both the Community Shield and his Premier League debut, but struggled to maintain consistency in front of goal. His debut season ended with 15 goals in 42 appearances.
In the 2023/24 campaign, Nunez became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to register double-digit non-penalty goals and assists across all competitions.
However, he continued to miss a number of chances in front of goal, which eventually became one of the reasons for Liverpool’s failure to win the league last season.
And this season, he has continued to be wasteful when played, scoring just seven goals all season.
Despite his inconsistency, Nunez has still delivered some unforgettable moments for Liverpool.
He netted a dramatic brace to seal a win against Newcastle with ten men last season, and scored another late double to beat Brentford this season, a victory that proved to be one of the key moments in Liverpool’s push for a historic 20th league title.
