Liverpool fans gutted that Xherdan Shaqiri will miss MK Dons clash

Liverpool have confirmed that Xherdan Shaqiri is unavailable on Wednesday against MK Dons – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are frustrated with the news.

The Reds travel to face League One side MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup, before a trip to Sheffield United at the weekend.

Jugend Klopp’s side are playing three matches in the space of six days and it would be no surprise to see the manager make wholesale changes for the domestic cup fixture.

Shaqiri has struggled for minutes at Anfield so far this campaign, as he’s played just four games across all competitions so far and is yet to start a single one.

The 27-year-old is a right-winger that may have hoped for an opportunity to impress against on Wednesday.

But Liverpool have confirmed () that the Switzerland international picked up a knock in training and will be unavailable against MK Dons due to the calf problem.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media feel that Shaqiri was in line for his first start of the season and are gutted he will miss out.

He proved to be a decent squad member last season for the Reds, scoring six goals and supplying five assists in 30 games across all competitions.

But he finds himself stuck behind the brilliant attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, who tend to start most games.
