Liverpool fans say £50m Premier League player would be the ideal Mohamed Salah replacement at Anfield

Liverpool are set for a busy summer on the transfer front after a fairly quiet 2023/24 in which only one player arrived at Anfield.

Federico Chiesa joined Liverpool last summer and, while a deal was struck with Valencia over goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, he’s not set to join until later this year.

In addition, Liverpool are sweating over the Anfield futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are out of contract in summer.

Although the Reds are in talks with all three players, it remains to be seen whether they will put pen to paper on new deals at Anfield.

Liverpool fans have now identified a player they would like the club to sign in case Salah departs the club.

Liverpool fans call for Bryan Mbeumo to replace Mohamed Salah

The player in question is Bryan Mbeumo, who has gone from strength to strength at Brentford in recent years.

Mbeumo was in great form on Friday night, scoring and also bagging an assist as the Bees ran out 4-0 winners against Leicester City.

Liverpool fans following the game loved what they saw from Mbeumo, in particular his stunning goal from the right flank.

One fan wrote on X: “You can’t tell me Mbeumo wouldn’t cook at Liverpool.” Another said : “Salah-esque goal from Mbeumo that.”

Another fan wrote: “If Salah goes we need to replace him for Mbeumo £50-£60m.”

The calls kept coming, with one fan writing: “Salah’s replacement might be Mbeumo.”

Another supporter said: “Said it before, nobody can replace Salah but Mbeumo has to be a serious contender.”

Another wrote: “Similar style of play. Left footed RW. Great finishing and close ball control. Great link up play. Can assist and score. Great penalty taker.”

A fan said in response: “Very good in transitions too, not the fastest, but got pace still.

“If Salah doesn’t renew, drop £70m on Brentford’s table and run away with Mbeumo as fast as we can.”

Liverpool were linked with a move for Mbeumo last year, along with the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Mbeumo is said to be valued at around £50million.

Stan Collymore has already given Bryan Mbeumo to Liverpool verdict

Liverpool cult hero Stan Collymore has previously spoken very highly about Mbeumo in the context of a potential move to Liverpool.

In 2023, Collymore said Mbeumo was his “favourite player in the Premier League” and made a solid case why the £50million man would thrive at Liverpool.

“Interestingly, it’s actually one of Toney’s Brentford teammates that I think top sides should be taking a closer look at,” he said. “Bryan Mbeumo – I love him!

“It may surprise some of you but Mbeumo is my favourite player in the Premier League. I think he’s quality.

“Whenever I watch him, he gets the ball close to his feet, he’s very direct, he makes excellent runs in the channels, he can drop deep, he holds the ball up really well, he is very supportive of his striking partner, he gets in the box and poaches goals, he’s physically strong.

“I could go on and on. He’s a great player! If Salah does end up leaving Liverpool this summer then I certainly think Jurgen Klopp should consider Brentford’s number 19.”
