Liverpool fans react to Xherdan Shaqiri performance v Newcastle United
Liverpool had to fight hard but managed to take all three points from their clash with Newcastle United this weekend. It proved a tough game against Rafa Benitez’s men. They twice came back from behind to make the game 2-2.
Then, in the final stages of the game, Jamaal Lascelles got the final touch, under excellent pressure from Divock Origi, on a Xherdan Shaqiri free-kick to give Liverpool the crucial win.
Liverpool fans were certainly pleased with the display from substitute Shaqiri. The Swiss international, who was ordered by captain Virgil van Dijk to take the free-kick, delivered exactly what Jurgen Klopp asks of him in the game.
On as a substitute, he was tasked with making a big impact.

That he did, with an unplayable ball into the area for the winning goal.
Many Liverpool fans wonder why Shaqiri does not start more. However, it is clear that Klopp brought him in from Stoke City with this sort of role in mind.
He has immense levels of quality, even if that is sometimes plagued by inconsistency. Coming on from the bench he has the potential to deliver, as he did today, moments of pure quality.
Here is some of the best reaction to Shaqiri’s latest Liverpool cameo…
