Liverpool fans react to devastating news regarding Joel Matip
Liverpool were rocked last night with the news that Joel Matip will be out of action for the rest of the season.
Following the news, supporters took to Twitter and it’s fair to say they are gutted for the Cameroonian defender.
Matip has struggled no end with injuries during the last 12 months and his problems are showing no signs of improving.
His latest injury saw him pick up ankle ligament damage during a recent win over Tottenham.
Liverpool have moved swiftly to fill the void, completing deadline day deals for Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies.

For Matip though another long road lies ahead and he joins Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez in the treatment room.
The defender has played 132 times for the Reds since arriving from Schalke.
He has helped the club to glory in the Champions League and last year helped them claim a first Premier League title.
Given the injury concerns though, Matip desperately needed a run of games and this latest setback could be costly.
He wasn’t the first choice when Van Dijk and Gomez were fit and with the new arrivals, he will now face a fight for his Liverpool shirt.
Following news of his latest injury, we looked at what supporters were saying o on Twitter.
Great player but no good for us anymore, can’t play 2 games a week or 10 in a row. Shame but made of prawn crackers

How very unlucky! Wish him a speedy recovery.

This is still crap news despite today's signings.
When he's fit, he's a very talented defender.
Would have been massive if we could've squeezed 5-10 more games out of him.
Just really sad that his body let's him down time and again.

A great guy. He’s been so immense for us. Honestly I think it’s time we should move on from flogging a dead horse. It’s Crytal clear that Matip lost the fitness potency to play 5 games on a stretch 🤦🏾♂️

Sad that the last game we saw of him was probably the last game he will ever play for us. Obviously leaving in the summer.
