Liverpool fans react to Club World Cup team news including makeshift centre back
Liverpool do battle for a place in the semi finals of the Club World Cup this afternoon when they take on Monterrey in Qatar.
The Reds’ full squad has travelled to Doha, leaving a shadow squad behind to compete in the EFL Cup last night, but it is not a first-choice eleven that has been selected.
Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out through illness and the absences of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip mean that Jordan Henderson has seemingly been pressed into action at centre half.
Further forward, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been paired together in midfield, making up a more creative engine room than the Reds usually deploy.
Those selections have got Liverpool fans on Twitter talking. The confidence around the club right now is such that the fans likely feel they can win whoever plays, and Henderson will do his best for the team regardless.
