Liverpool fans react to Allan Saint-Maximin’s tweet on Sadio Mane

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to laud Allan Saint-Maximin following his response to a message concerning Sadio Mane after Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

The Reds endured a frustrating afternoon at Anfield as the Magpies scored late on to earn a point from their trip to Merseyside.

It came after a contest in which Jurgen Klopp’s side had created more than enough chances to kill the game off, particularly during the first-half.

However, Liverpool could not add to Mo Salah’s opener. And Mane was one of those who missed an outstanding chance, fluffing his lines when played in.

Saint-Maximin was pivotal in giving Newcastle a way back into the game during the second-half. The attacker caused plenty of problems, and there were a number of occasions when Liverpool seemed incapable of getting the ball off the Frenchman.

So it was no surprise that some Reds fans seemingly wanted to message after the game to urge him to join the champions.

However, it appears that Saint-Maximin was not best pleased when one supporter suggested that he should move to Liverpool in a swap with Mane (via ).

The 24-year-old insisted that Mane does not deserve the criticism coming his way. And he suggested that he has some way to go before he gets anywhere near his level.

And that seemingly saw Saint-Maximin reach a new level of popularity amongst Reds fans on social media.

Many were in awe of the gesture of defending Mane. And it seems that they have been just as impressed by his character off the field as they were with his performance on it.
