Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Xherdan Shaqiri’s display
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to laud Xherdan Shaqiri’s performance in their Champions League victory over Midtjylland, with many insisting that the 29-year-old should be used more often.
It has been a quiet start to the season for the Switzerland international. He is yet to play in the Premier League for the Reds. And his only start before Tuesday came at Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.
But he was named in the starting lineup by Jurgen Klopp against the Danish side. It proved to be a tough night for the six-time winners of the competition.

Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah got the goals for Liverpool. But it was not a performance that will perhaps be remembered alongside the great European nights the famous stadium has seen.
Nevertheless, it was an evening that saw Shaqiri impress a number of Liverpool fans on social media.
Plenty suggested that he was one of their best performers. He was superb in the middle of the park, particularly when going forward and attempting to pull the strings.

He was involved in the opening goal, playing a fantastic one-two with Trent Alexander-Arnold before the right-back slid the ball to Jota to tap home.
‘Criminally underrated’
And he nearly created a golden opportunity for himself during the second-half. He produced a stunning run to the edge of the box that culminated in a delicious piece of skill.
However, the visitors managed to clear the danger.
He may not have got a goal. But many supporters clearly feel that he did enough to prove a point to Klopp. Several implored the Liverpool boss to use him more frequently in future.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to his performance…
