Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Nat Phillips’ display at Real Madrid
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Nat Phillips’s performance in their Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men need to overturn a two-goal deficit when they meet again at Anfield next week following the first-leg. The Reds were beaten 3-1 by Los Blancos.

In truth, it was a brutal night for the Premier League champions. They were poor for much of the game and were punished for a number of mistakes during the contest.
And it would be wrong to pretend that Phillips only received praise on social media. It does appear that many felt that it was a performance that exposed the 24-year-old’s weaknesses.

However, there was also some praise for the centre-back. Some felt that he was actually one of the visitors’ better players in the Spanish capital.
, he made 62 accurate passes. Only Toni Kroos and Gini Wijnaldum managed more during the game.
Meanwhile, he also managed two tackles, two interceptions and four clearances. And one aspect of his game that most Liverpool fans refuse to question is his work-rate and desire.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Reds supporters were saying about Phillips’s performance against Real…
Nat Phillips game by numbers:
Clearances 4 (1st)
Tackles 2 (2nd)
Interceptions 2 (2nd)
Blocks 3 (1st)
Passes 70 (1st)Kroos pass over the top was superb & the touch from Vincious was world class, so yes Phillips can be looked at for this but apart from that he was my MOTM

Gini was terrible tonight, not that many were any good. Nat Phillips probably edges it for me as our best player. But God what an awful performance.

Mo and Nat in the 2nd half only two tonight who can remotely hold their heads up after that. Hideous performance, all to do in the second leg.

Nat Phillips’ lack of pace & sharpness will always limit him to be just a good no-nonsense CB, not a great one. His attitude is top notch though.
Salah though he scored the only goal looks like his attitude might become bit of a problem. The way he reacts sometimes worries me.

Damage was done in the first half tbh. Think Nat Phillips had a good game overall though, which I’m sure will be an unpopular opinion.

him and fabinho are the only players who did aynthing. other than that it was shambolic

Feel for Phillips but a sobering night for him. For their first & third goals he was nowhere to be seen.
