Liverpool fans react as Stan Collymore suggests Arsenal player as potential signing

Stan Collymore has told the Sunday People’s paper edition (12/7, Page 61) – – that he thinks Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi would be a good signing for Liverpool, after being ostracised by Mikel Arteta.

Guendouzi, 21, has not been included in Arsenal’s 20-man squad for the last six matches in all competitions. Replays showed the French midfielder throttling Neal Maupay following a defeat to Brighton – the last straw for Arteta.

Reports have since emerged of childish behaviour behind the scenes on Guendouzi’s part, while also boasting to Brighton players about his wages. L’Equipe claim – – Arsenal are willing to accept offers of £36million.

Former Liverpool star Collymore discussed Guendouzi’s position and stated that the former Lorient star is good enough to play for either Liverpool or Manchester City – even if it means he is just a squad player.

“Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp might feel he’s not good enough for Manchester City or Liverpool, but I’d be inclined to disagree, because being around good players he could thrive,” Collymore said.

“I’m not saying he’d get into either’s first XI now. But he could play for either club, the talent is that obvious.”

Liverpool have plenty of options in midfield but that is set to be weakened. Adam Lallana may have played his last game for the Reds, while Pedro Chirivella has already left. Gini Wijnaldum has 12 months left on his contract.

So, Liverpool could do with a central midfielder and supporters have discussed Collymore’s claim that Guendouzi could be a good signing for Klopp’s side. Some think he would add good cover to Klopp’s Premier League champions.
