Liverpool fans react as Sadio Mane shines for Senegal on Thursday afternoon

Senegal secured a 1-1 draw against Brazil on Thursday afternoon as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane did battle at Singapore’s national stadium – and Reds fans have applauded the performance of Mane.

Mane, 27, came into the match in exquisite form for Liverpool this season. Making 11 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, Mane has found the back of the net eight times – including a brace in the UEFA SuperCup.

But it was Brazil that struck first, as Manchester City and Liverpool attackers combined to give Brazil the lead. Gabriel Jesus cut inside off the flank, before slipping a through ball into Firmino who finished superbly with a stunning chip.

Mane cut a frustrated figure in green as he looked to make the break through and equalise for Senegal, and he did just that. Picking the ball up on the left flank, Mane drove at Dani Alves and Marquinhos as he made his way to the area.

Cutting inside, Mane nutmegged Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos before the latter bundled Mane over in the penalty area. Instead of taking the spot kick himself, Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou smashed a penalty out of the reach of Ederson.

Liverpool fans reacted to Mane’s display for Senegal, which saw him finish the entire 90 minutes for Senegal. Many were impressed with the speed machine’s display, applauding him for keeping his form at top level.
