Liverpool fans react as Reds reportedly make Edmond Tapsoba enquiry

Liverpool are closing in on reported moves to sign Ben Davies from Preston and potentiallty Ozan Kabak from Schalke – but only after they made an enquiry to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, and Reds fans have responded.

The Reds are after a central defender – or two – on deadline day after Joel Matip joined Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk in the treatment room. Fabinho has also been missing for the last two games, leaving Jordan Henderson and Nat Phillips in defence.

Davies, 25, is set to join Liverpool with his Preston contract due to expire at the end of the season. A cut-price figure is set to be organised for the left-footed centre-back – who came within an inch of joining Celtic earlier on in the window.

Turkey international Kabak could also join on a loan-to-buy deal – but it is believed that the interest in the Schalke defender only comes after an enquiry was made for Tapsoba. Leverkusen told Liverpool he would cost £44million.

That fee has seemingly put Liverpool off 21-year-old Tapsoba at least for deadline day. The 12-time Guinea international has since starred for Leverkusen after joining the German side from Portuguese outfit Vitoria in January 2020.

Liverpool fans have reacted to the reported news that their club made an enquiry to sign the African powerhouse – and many believe he would be a good signing for the club, though a January deadline-day move is very unlikely.
