Liverpool fans react as Manchester United appoint Ralf Rangnick

Manchester United have appointed Ralf Rangnick on an initial six-month deal as manager – and Liverpool fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.

Rangnick, 63, joins Manchester United as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Michael Carrick guided United to a win over Villarreal.

He also oversaw a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. Rangnick is widely-regarded as one of the best footballing brains in the game at the moment.

He is credited with being the teacher for the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Jurgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann. Rangnick has a long-winding CV.

Management spells at Leipzig, Schalke and Hoffenheim – his footballing brain has also seen him in numerous positions upstairs, in the board room.

He comes from the board room at Lokomotiv Moscow, where he has halfway through a three-year stint as managing director.

What do Liverpool fans think of Manchester United and Rangnick?

With Klopp in the dugout themselves, they are clearly aware of Rangnick. The German has been linked with a move to the Premier League before.

Klopp, as a manager, will admit that much of his footballing know how and management skills are thanks to Rangnick. The press, certainly.

So, Liverpool fans are perhaps, understandably looking over their shoulder with Rangnick now in place at Old Trafford.

The German will not only manage until the summer, but also hold a consultancy role until the summer of 2024. Liverpool fans are worried.
