Liverpool fans react as Klopp snubbed Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita in his starting line-up
Liverpool fans cannot comprehend why Jurgen Klopp left Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita out of his starting line-up.
Fabinho, James Milner and Jordan Henderson lined up in a three-man midfield against Napoli. Then, Gini Wijnaldum came on for Fabinho after the Brazilian’s 19th-minute injury.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita left out
Oxlade-Chamberlain was left on the bench until later in the game. In the 57th minute, he replaced Joe Gomez as Milner went to full-back.
Keita, on the other hand, was left out of the matchday squad altogether. It has been a difficult season for the Guinea midfielder, who has had his injury problems. But Liverpool fans felt he should have been playing.
Both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita are more positive options than Milner and Henderson in the midfield trio. Liverpool eventually drew 1-1 with Napoli and their qualification chances have gone down to the final game.
Liverpool fans took to Twitter after the game to discuss Oxlade-Chamberlain being on the bench and Keita not making the squad. There were a number of fans discontent with Klopp’s decision to ignore both. Here are some tweets.
Just dont understand why we had to play Milner last night. Absolutely no need. Ox/Keita instead of him would’ve been so much more logical. What’s the point of playing defensive mids against a team that was going to set up to sit back & play 3 atb

It’s no surprise that every time we bring on Ox or Keita in midfield we instantly look better. The midfield selections are what is making these games a struggle this season.

Why did he start with such a stupid line up. If he wanted to rest players he could have done that vs Brighton on weekend. Why does he play Gomez at RB when he is always awful there. And Milner legs have gone Ox should have started game. If Gomez is at RB you need Ox/Keita on
