Liverpool fans react as Bayer Leverkusen eye Reds defender, suggest swap deal
Nat Phillips can feel hard done by. Having starred for Liverpool last season, you would have been forgiven for thinking he had earned himself a longer Liverpool stay. But he could go and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen. Reds fans have reacted to a potential move, and want a swap deal.
Phillips, 24, was excellent during the second half of last term. Despite the Reds bringing in Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies as centre-back additions – Phillips retained his position and finished the season in brilliant form. He even scored his first Liverpool goal, during a win over Burnley.
But with Liverpool signing Ibrahima Konate and the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez returning from injury – the Reds no longer need Phillips. say Leverkusen want the £15million-rated defender. But four Premier League clubs are keen too, including West Ham and Newcastle.

What are Liverpool fans saying about Leverkusen wanting Phillips?
Liverpool, meanwhile, need additions in the final third. With Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri both likely to leave, the Reds need additions. Not just the kind of players that can offer cover to the front three, but challenge their positions in the side – like Diogo Jota did last season.
Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports Leverkusen want Phillips – and many want a swap deal involving Leon Bailey. The Jamaica international scored 15 and created 11 more in 40 outings for Leverkusen during 2020-21. Reds fans want Phillips included in a swap for Bailey.
