The Reds are currently fifth in the league this season, although Critchley has had his played pinched by Jurgen Klopp for the first-team on many occasions.

Of course, that’s no bad thing as it means the pathway is clear but it hasn’t helped Critchley to compete for the league title.

The performance on Friday was good though and should give Liverpool’s young guns confidence moving forwards.

Scorer of the second goal Van Den Berg was particularly impressive and at 18 there really is no ceiling on the teenager’s potential.

The 18-year-old has played four times for the Reds this season with each of his appearances coming in the domestic cup competitions.
