Liverpool fans must be furious about rumour now emerging from the Premier League involving Manchester City

The Premier League and Manchester City have become well acquainted in recent times as the two engage in legal clashes – although a new development will surely annoy Liverpool fans.

Manchester City sued the Premier League in June over “associated party transactions” (APT) – after the Premier League themselves charged the Citizens with 115 breaches of financial rules.

Despite this friction between both parties, the Premier League have now made a quite generous allowance for Manchester City – which is sure to irk Liverpool fans…

Why Liverpool fans may be annoyed by development involving Manchester City and the Premier League

A new story from the claims that the Premier League are surprisingly going to allow Manchester City to keep wearing their gold FIFA Club World Cup badge for the 2024/25 season.

So, why would that annoy Liverpool?

The fact of the matter is that the Premier League strangely blocked the Reds from wearing the prestigious badge, after Jurgen Klopp guided Liverpool to FIFA Club World Cup glory in December 2019.

UEFA allowed Liverpool to wear the chest patch in the Champions League, although the Premier League granted the Reds just one chance to wear it – during a clash against Wolves at Anfield – before putting their foot down.

At the time, it was an odd move, as it obviously reflects well on the Premier League as a division to be housing the FIFA Club World Cup champions.

Now, that decision is looking even more ridiculous, as Manchester City – a side firmly embroiled in a messy spat with the Premier League – receive the unprecedented allowance of wearing the gold badge into a second season.

Chelsea supporters will also be asking questions

Chelsea were also blocked from wearing the gold badge in Premier League action after Thomas Tuchel led the Blues to the FIFA Club World Cup title in December 2021.

Therefore – while Liverpool and Chelsea are not exactly the best of friends – the two sides can unite over this matter, as Manchester City weirdly receive a unique benefit, despite being in the Premier League’s naughty book right now.
