Liverpool fans impressed with Chelsea midfielder after impressing for loan side on Tuesday night
On-loan Chelsea star Billy Gilmour failed to prevent Liverpool from beating Norwich in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday – and Reds fans are impressed.
Gilmour, 20, joined Norwich on a season-long loan in the summer. The Canaries lost Oliver Skipp, who returned to Tottenham after a loan.
The Scotland international has started four of Norwich’s five Premier League games, all of which Daniel Farke’s side have lost so far.
Norwich had beaten Bournemouth 6-0 to face Liverpool in the third round of the Carabao Cup. But they fell at this stage, losing 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Gilmour was probably his side’s best player. His ball retention, dribbling and passing caused issues for Liverpool’s superior midfield.
But in truth, the Reds really never had to get out of third gear – depsite Caomihin Kelleher saving a penalty just before half-time.

Clearly, Gilmour has a big future at Chelsea – having already clocked up 22 senior appearances for the Blues. He has 40 outings for the Under-23’s.
However, Gilmour has entered the final two years of his £43,000-a-week (Spotrac) contract with Chelsea. The Blues will want to get it tied up.
Especially, with his performancea catching the attention of other supporters. Indeed, many Liverpool fans were quick to praise Gilmour.
Reds fans took to Twitter to applaud the midfielder for his performance. While Liverpool cruised to victory, Gilmour certainly stood out.
