Liverpool fans fuming as Andy Gray makes Jack Grealish claim

Andy Gray has told BeIN Sports that he thinks Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is better than any of Liverpool’s midfield options, before picking out Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita for comparison – and Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter.

Grealish, 24, has been linked with the majority of England’s biggest clubs this season including both Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as Tottenham Hotspur. He has a contract at Villa until the summer of 2023.

The Villa captain has been repeatedly touted for and England call-up after scoring six and creating five more in 20 Premier League matches this season. But with Villa facing relegation, his future has come into question.

Indeed, Gray believes he will leave his boyhood club in the summer after coming close to joining Spurs in the summer of 2018. Discussing who he could join, Gray reckons he is good enough to play for any of the top six, before considering Liverpool.

He claimed that Grealish is a better midfielder than either Netherlands international Wijnaldum or £48million () recruit Keita: “He’s better than any of Liverpool’s midfield players. I think he’s better than Keita, Wijnaldum.”

Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to Gray’s extraordinary remark, given that both Keita and Wijnaldum are full international, Champions League winners and part of one of the best sides in Premier League history. Many are unimpressed with Gray.
