Liverpool fans frustrated as Rangers sign Sheyi Ojo on season-long loan

Sheyi Ojo has embarked on the fifth loan spell of his young career by agreeing a season-long spell at Rangers under Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard – but some Liverpool fans are frustrated with the move.

Ojo, who turns 22 on Wednesday, has played for Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and French club Stade Reims. Now, he will be looking to make Rangers the best of the lot.

The versatile midfielder played 18 times for top-tier French clubs Reims last season, and has made 13 career appearances for Liverpool – even scoring one goal and laying on four assists for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

England Under-21 international Ojo becomes Rangers’ fifth summer signing, after deals were agreed for Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones, Steven Davis and Greg Stewart. More are expected in the pipeline this summer.

Ojo’s future is likely to be at Anfield, after he signed a contract last summer before joining Reims that will keep him on Merseyside until the summer of 2023. But his capture is somewhat of a coup for Gerrard’s side.

However, the move has frustrated some Liverpool fans on Twitter after the Reds confirmed he had teamed up with Gerrard. Indeed, some fans wanted the club to get rid of Ojo permanently, and bring in some cash for his services.
