Liverpool fans fear they could be about to sign another Darwin Nunez after transfer rumour they’ve heard
Liverpool haven’t wasted any time in lining up options for when the transfer window opens in June.
So far, Liverpool have got themselves a new goalkeeper in Giorgi Mamardashvili, for whom a deal was agreed last year.
Jeremie Frimpong is said to be closing in on a move to Liverpool, while Florian Wirtz is also firmly in Liverpool’s sights.
Now, a new transfer rumour involving Liverpool has emerged, but this has led to some Reds fans fearing they could be about to sign another Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool fans unsure about Hugo Ekitike transfer rumours
On Wednesday, Liverpool were reported to be ‘seriously’ in the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
“The next big target from the Bundesliga,” Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany wrote on X.
“Understand FC Liverpool are now seriously in the race for Hugo Ekitike!
“Talks have taken place. Slot/Edwards keen on him. The biggest rival at the moment: Chelsea.
“Eintracht Frankfurt have not yet received an offer. Markus Krosche still demands €100million.”
Some Liverpool fans have expressed concern over Ekitike’s price tag along with his Bundesliga goal tally of 15 from an xG of 22.55.
“Liverpool better steer clear of Ekitike… he’s basically Nunez with +5 dribbling,” one fan wrote on X.
Another said: “Baffled as to why we are looking at Hugo Ekitike for a rumoured £100m.
“Looks like he misses a lot of chances similar to Nunez. Julian Alvarez is right there.”
Other fans expressed doubt, with one saying: “Not convinced by the Hugo Ekitike signing.
“Watched his goals/assists comp and I’m not convinced, he gets way too much space due to low quality of that league, something he won’t get in the Premier League.
“Looks like a slower, less explosive Nunez 2.0. At that price? Hard pass.”
Another fan wrote: “Get Isak, not Ekitike – we need an already proven bagsman, we can’t afford another Nunez.”
Another supporter said: “Ekitike is a younger version of Nunez… a big hit or miss imo.”

Jamie Carragher has already shared Hugo Ekitike verdict
Ekitike registered 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for Frankfurt last season.
One of these goals came against Tottenham in the Europa League, a strike which led Jamie Carragher to back Ekitike to join Liverpool.
“I don’t think they’ll absolutely break the bank,” Carragher said on It’s Caller Soccer.
“There’s the lad at Eintracht Frankfurt, who scored against Tottenham. Ekitike, that smacks to me as the type of player Liverpool would sign.
“He’s 22. He’s at a club you think would probably be a selling club.
“He’s done really well, he went to PSG as a young kid, it didn’t work out for him, but he’s still really young, great numbers this season.
“He looks to me the type of player Liverpool would sign instead of (someone more expensive like Alexander) Isak.”
