Liverpool fans discuss reports Arsenal want to sign £167k-a-week midfielder in January

Arsenal are reportedly an option for PSG midfielder Gini Wijnaldum ahead of the January transfer window as he continues to struggle for game time – and Liverpool fans have responded to the reports.

Wijnaldum, 31, joined PSG in the summer after coming close to a move to the Nou Camp. That is, after the Dutchman let his contract at Liverpool run down, leaving the club on a free transfer.

The 85-time Netherlands international played 237 times for Liverpool after his move from Newcastle – spending five years at Anfield. He helped the Reds win the Premier League, and the Champions League.

But it has been a stark contrast at PSG. Under ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Wijnaldum has played 20 times for PSG this season so far – but he has started only half, completing 90 minutes just four times.

What do Liverpool fans think as Arsenal reportedly eye Wijnaldum?

on Wednesday that Arsenal are an option for Wijnaldum in January – and it is unclear if PSG will sell the £167k-a-week man permanently, or initially on a loan deal.

Arsenal do have options in the middle of the park. But Mo Elneny could leave in January with his contract ending in the summer. Granit Xhaka has been out injured, and Thomas Partey is struggling for form.

The Gunners could do with more of a box-to-box midfielder, one that has the engine to defend and work – but also score goals. Liverpool fans discussed the prospect of Wijnaldum at Arsenal.
