Liverpool fans are all making the same claim about Virgil van Dijk after he stops Erling Haaland and Man City again
Liverpool cruised to another Premier League win as they saw off Manchester City with ease and put themselves in prime position to win the title.
The Reds were simply too good for City who once again looked off and while goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were enough, it could have been even more.
Down the other end, it was another fruitless week for Erling Haaland. The big Norwegian is struggling to get going lately and once again, found Virgil van Dijk his nemesis.
Indeed, Van Dijk has a history of getting the better of Haaland and at Anfield today, he was imperious.
Van Dijk, of course, is one of the Liverpool players out of contract this coming summer but he once again showed just why the Reds need to get him tied down to fresh terms.
And over on social media, the fanfare was in full flow as Liverpool fans and even fans of other clubs lauded the Dutchman’s performance.

Van Dijk is largely regarded as one of the best defenders to play in the Premier League and certainly in Liverpool, he is considered the top dog.
And over on social media platform X, fans are now making the point that Van Dijk might well be the best to ever do it in England.
Another fan, @Gbemiga_A, insisted that Van Dijk is the greatest we’ve ever seen in the Premier League.
“The premier league has never seen a defender as good as Van Dijk”
While admitted they’d ran out of superlatives for the Dutchman.
“I have ran out of words to describe just how good virgil van dijk is at football.”
Another supporter, , suggested that Van Dijk is now leaps ahead of former Man United man Nemanja Vidic.
“Don’t ever compare Van Dijk to Vidic again”
While another fan, @RyanMcLaughlin, continued the theme of giving Van Dijk the ‘GOAT’ title.

Who else can challenge Van Dijk for best Premier League centre-back ever?
There are some top defenders who have played in England and like anything, this is a subjective debate.
Virgil van Dijk is very much up there in terms of his level of performance and sheer quality.
But the likes of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Tony Adams and Vincent Kompany might all lay claim to being the very best ever.
There are others, too, including current Man City man Ruben Dias and former Chelsea ace, Ricardo Carvalho.
But right now, Van Dijk is the best around. Of that, there is no question.
