Liverpool fans amazed by Pedri on Tuesday night, despite Spain losing to Italy

Spain were knocked out of Euro 2020 at the semi-final stage by Italy on Tuesday night, losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Central to that was Barcelona teenager Pedri, who continues to be linked with a move to Anfield. Liverpool fans raved about Pedri on Twitter after the match.

With England fans and players – most likely – watching on, the Three Lions found out who they could face in the final of Euro 2020, if they beat Denmark. While Spain dominated possession and created numerous half chances, Italy tried to sucker punch Luis Enrique’s side on the counter.

They did just that. With Spain lacking a proper number nine as they looked to avoid Giorgio Chiellini, the likes of Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal and others could not provide the difference. That is despite the stunning display of Pedri in midfield. His elegance in possession was eye-catching.

Taking the ball on the half-turn, passing with venom but also producing incredible work rate out of possession, Pedri was sensational. But ultimately, it was Juventus star Federico Chiesa’s moment of genius that saw Italy open the scoring . Picking up the ball, he cut inside and curled home.

What have Liverpool fans said about Pedri?

A brilliant goal and in fairness, one worthy of winning any match – let alone a Euro 2020 semi-final. But Spain came back, through a somewhat unlikely source. Alvaro Morata came off the bench and scored brilliantly after a neat one-two. Eventually, though, Italy won on penalties.

Misses from Dani Olmo and Morata handed Jorginho the chance to score the winning penalty and he duly obliged. However, Liverpool fans were still incredibly impressed by Barcelona teenager Pedri, who earns £34,000 a week at the Nou Camp. Liverpool are keen on Pedri and have held talks.
