Report: Liverpool to battle Everton for signing of 23-year-old forward
Liverpool are set to rival Everton for the signature of Bertrand Traore during the transfer window,
The Reds sent scouts to watch the former Chelsea player during Lyon’s 3-0 win over Marseille earlier this month.
Traore has spent the vast majority of the 2018/19 campaign playing as a right-winger, although the 23-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across a front three.
claims that Lyon are wanting £40 million for the Burkina Faso international. Such a sum could certainly rule Everton out of the running, whilst it could also deter Liverpool from making a bid.

Liverpool aren’t really in need of too many signings this summer. The squad has proved good enough this season and it will be a case of quality over quantity for Jurgen Klopp.
Some competition for places in attack will probably be necessary, however. Daniel Sturridge looks set to leave, whilst Xherdan Shaqiri has proved hit and miss this season.
TBR Verdict
Traore has shown during his time at Lyon that he can be an exciting player on his day, although he does have inconsistencies.
He has 29 goals and 11 assists to his name from 90 appearances in France and that is hardly the sort of form to warrant a £40 million valuation.

Liverpool could certainly do with a few more options to cover their front three of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Spending the sums that Lyon are talking about for Traore just don’t seem to make a great deal of sense for the Reds at this stage, however.
If they can barter the French outfit down somewhat then he might be worth pursuing. At current value, however, Liverpool would be wise to look elsewhere.
