Liverpool don’t want to sign ‘talented’ player despite what Fabrizio Romano has said

The transfer window is open, and Liverpool have been at the centre of tons of speculation recently.

The rumour mill is turning, and Liverpool have been at the heart of a number of stories.

At the moment, it’s incredibly easy to link Liverpool to these new signings. After all, they have a new manager and a new recruitment team in place.

The Reds have been linked with a number of potential new additions this summer, and, recently, Mohamed Simakan is a player who has been linked to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano claimed this week that Liverpool’s board are big fans of Simakan, but according to David Lynch, speaking on his YouTube channel, there is in fact nothing in this rumour.

Liverpool don’t want Mohamed Simakan

Lynch shared what he knows about the Reds and their reported interest in the RB Leipzig defender.

“Mohamed Simakan at RB Leipzig. Profile wise he’s described as a centre-back and a right-back, but my understanding again is that it’s not a player Liverpool are chasing at the moment,” Lynch said.

“You can see why the link came about, Liverpool like versatile players and they like players who’ve been at those Red Bull clubs don’t they?

“At the moment, Mohamed Simakan is one you can cross out as definitely not a player Liverpool will pursue this summer.”

Liverpool don’t need Simakan

This rumour didn’t seem to be right from the off.

Simakan is very much a right-sided defender. He prefers playing on the right of a back four or even as a full-back.

In contrast, Liverpool could really do with someone who is comfortable playing on that left-side. After all, they already have Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah capable of playing on the right next to Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool will be in the market for a new centre-back this summer, but it’s more likely to be a player who is comfortable playing on the left side.
