Liverpool defender Matip is well placed to take on Lewandowski
Liverpool take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week.
The Reds host the Bavarians in the first leg of the last 16 clash, and the hype is already building ahead of one of the biggest games of their season.

It’s the next game in Liverpool’s schedule since they are already out of the FA Cup which takes place this weekend.
Bayern take to the field against Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday, meaning they will have less recovery time than their opponents.
Jurgen Klopp has a selection headache on his hands with a number of injury problems affecting his squad, particularly in defence.

That is a worry, especially given that Bayern boast one of world football’s most lethal finishers in Robert Lewndowski.
That said, Liverpool might just have a surprise counter for the Poland international.
Matip knows all about Lewandowski
Someone that could come up trumps for Liverpool next Tuesday is Joel Matip, who knows Lewandowski well having faced him plenty of times during his time as a Schalke 04 player.
Lewandowski has played his club football in Germany since 2010, with Matip having burst onto the scene in 2009, before leaving the division for the Premier League in 2016.

In 17 appearances against Schalke to date, Lewandowski has plundered 15 goals (), and the pair have enjoyed a tussle or two down the years.
Matip has a good idea of how the former Borussia Dortmund striker operates, and could therefore really help Liverpool to shackle him at Anfield.
There will be no Virgil van Dijk in the team as the Dutchman is suspended, meaning there is some huge responsibility on his shoulders going into the game.
