Liverpool could make ‘very big’ move for £70m player after Florian Wirtz, he wants to join

Liverpool’s summer transfer window has got off to a truly incredible start.

Indeed, it looks like Liverpool have already sewn up three top signings.

Jeremie Frimpong is already officially a Liverpool player, while Florian Wirtz is set to arrive at Anfield in the near future, as is Milos Kerkez.

Frighteningly, Liverpool’s business may not be done there either.

Liverpool still need a striker, and Alexander Isak has been linked to the Reds, and he’s not the only Newcastle player on Liverpool’s list.

Speaking on Inside Gooners, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Liverpool’s transfer plans, and he says a move for Anthony Gordon could be back on the cards if Luis Diaz leaves the club.

Liverpool could make Anthony Gordon move

Jacobs shared what he knows about Gordon and Liverpool’s interest.

The journalist says Liverpool will make a ‘very big’ move for Gordon this summer if Luis Diaz leaves, claiming that the player’s head was already turned last summer and he would like to join Liverpool.

“Anthony Gordon is a player Arsenal have liked, like Chelsea and Liverpool for quite some time, I think from Liverpool’s perspective, Liverpool will go very big on Anthony Gordon on that left hand side,” Jacobs said.

“When Newcastle were in that PSR bind 12 months ago there was almost a £70m deal between Liverpool and Anthony Gordon and Gordon’s head was turned, he would like to go to Liverpool despite his Everton links.”

Anthony Gordon’s Liverpool connection

Anthony Gordon wants to sign for Liverpool, and it’s not surprising to hear that.

Indeed, the winger is from Merseyside, and he was a boyhood Liverpool supporter, as was his entire family.

Gordon admitted that his family all support Liverpool when appearing on A League Of Their Own last year.

“I have no family members who support Everton. Not one – they’re all Liverpool,” Gordon said

“I was at Liverpool and they released me when I was 11. And then Everton signed me.”

“As long as we lost, they were alright. They were like: ‘If you score, great, but we want you to lose still,” Gordon replied on how his family felt about him playing in blue.

“All my family are really bitter Liverpool fans.”

Gordon has strong links to Liverpool, and he could be set to make a move to Anfield this summer if everything falls into place.
