Liverpool could end up signing £40m Premier League star this summer, he’s ‘desperate’ to join

Liverpool are yet to make a signing in this summer transfer window as Arne Slot continues to wait for his first new addition of this fresh era.

The Reds are yet to enter the market, but it’s not been for the lack of trying.

Indeed, Liverpool have looked at signing a number of players this summer.

Leny Yoro was named as a top target before his move to Manchester United, while Anthony Gordon is a signing Liverpool are said to have discussed.

Speaking on Anfield Agenda, David Lynch has been discussing Gordon and his links to Liverpool.

The journalist maintains that this one could be revisited, and he thinks there’s a chance this deal does happen later in the window.

Anthony Gordon to Liverpool is possible

Lynch shared what he knows about the man and the Reds

“On Anthony Gordon I think that’s one that has a real chance of being revived maybe later in the window. Because that contract situation is there,” Lynch said.

“That leaves Newcastle in a weak position in terms of negotiating even though they’ve got past all the PSR trouble that they’ve got. The player would desperately love to play for Liverpool and there’s all that reported interest in Luis Diaz.

“Now, that interest has to become something, there has to be a bid come in and it has to be right for Liverpool for a sale. They’re not going to just kick him out the door.

“But if that does come together and those ingredients are there, then Anthony Gordon is a player we know they admire, absolutely no doubts about that and with his contact with just two years remaining, they would sense Newcastle’s weakness there and very much got to test it.”

Anthony Gordon is already best friends with one Liverpool player

A move to Anfield could eventually be on the cards for Gordon, and it’s a move he would seemingly welcome.

As Lynch says, Gordon would be desperate to play for Liverpool. He’s a boyhood fan, he knows the area and he’s already best friends with one of the Reds’ players.

Indeed, it’s previously been stated by Theo Squires that Anthony Gordon is best friends with Curtis Jones.

“He knows the area, it would be easy for him to settle and hit the ground running, and he’s best mates with Curtis Jones as well,” Squires said.

This move could still have legs to it, so don’t be shocked if the winger does end up on Merseyside before the transfer deadline.
