Caoimhin Kelleher says Liverpool have a talented 18-year-old in their ranks

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has waxed lyrical about fellow Reds stopper Marcelo Pitaluga.

The 18-year-old joined Liverpool in October 2020 from Brazilian outfit Fluminense for a reported £.

Pitaluga worked with Alisson Becker’s brother Muriel at Fluminense in 2019-20.

The teenager had previously been named on the bench for the Brazilian side for two Serie A matches.

Pitaluga was also in the Brazil squad that lifted the FIFA Under-17 World Cup on home soil in November 2019.

He trains regularly with Alisson, Kelleher, Adrian and the rest of the Reds first team at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.

John Achterberg, who played a big part in getting Pitaluga to Liverpool, is happy with the player’s efforts in training so far.

“Technically he has a lot of good qualities and hopefully he can make the next steps,” he told the last week.

And Kelleher is also impressed with how Pitaluga has been progressing.

“It’s been really good to train with him,” the Irishman told the Liverpool .

“He’s been here nearly a year now so we know him quite well, but he had an injury so it was great to see him back in pre-season.

“He’s been doing really well – pushing on – and I think all the goalkeepers are quite close as a group.

“We train really well together and it’s a good group to be part of.”
