Liverpool: Brazilian winger linked; £30m man to stay; duo close to exit
As if having two exciting young Brazilians leading Liverpool’s attack was not enough, are claiming that PSG starlet Lucas Moura could be set to join his compatriots at Anfield. The skilful playmaker would match up well alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, and is said to be being tracked by Liverpool bosses who see him as a potential attacking upgrade.
The 23-yea- old seems less keen on the links, claiming that he is happy in Paris and does not want to move anywhere. It seems even less likely that a move to Anfield would be on the cards, for he would have give up the opportunity to work with Unai Emery, instead favouring the lack of European football for Liverpool this season.
There is also said to be good news for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s transfer committee in their chase to sign Euro 2016 semi-finalist Jonas Hector, according to . They quote German sports paper Bild as putting the Kopites in the driving seat for the left-back.
With Barcelona announcing the signing of Lucas Digne, and Tottenham already trusting Danny Rose, Liverpool have the best prospects of pulling off the signing for a reported fee of £17 million to persuade his club, Koln, to let him go. The German showed great quality at the Euros this summer, and would provide welcome competition for the much criticised Alberto Moreno after some poor performances towards the end of last season.
However, such deals could be put at risk by Christian Benteke’s last minute change of mind which sees him look set to stay on Merseyside next season. claim that a combination of Liverpool’s demands for £30 million in any initial offer and Benteke’s demands for £120,000 a week in wages are putting off potential suitors such as Crystal Palace and West Ham.
With Klopp seemingly desperate to off-load the Belgian, who has fallen down to fourth place in the Anfield strike-force pecking order, potentially even fifth should Sadio Mane be used as a striker, it seems likely that a slightly lower offer may reluctantly be accepted. The conflict does look set to continue though, as the ex-Aston Villa man is said to be keen on fighting for his place.
Two other names look set to be on their way out though, with the claiming that Jordon Ibe’s £15 million move to Bournemouth is set to be completed whilst the report that Martin Skrtel has travelled to Turkey for a medical ahead of a move to Fenerbahce.
Ibe’s move seems to be one best for all parties, with the youngster’s progress having slowed greatly. For a player with so little experience, £15 million is a sizeable sum, and by retaining a buy back clause in the deal, Liverpool have protected themselves with the option to bring him back to Anfield should he reach his full potential, which will only come with more game time on the south coast.
Martin Skrtel’s move has seemed increasingly probable for a couple of years now, and whilst inevitable, does provide some risk for Jurgen Klopp. No-one argues that the Slovakian lacks the composure and quality necessary, but alongside the release of Kolo Toure, the German boss has lost his two most experienced defenders in a matter of weeks.
are also reporting that Mario Balotelli may be the next to follow those two out of the revolving door at Melwood, with Jurgen Klopp claiming that the Italian has no future at the club. Klopp is said to feel that Balotelli is not in a position to be able to compete with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings for a starting place next season.
With Klopp reportedly having already spoken with the controversial front man, it will be time for Balotelli to look for yet another club. At the start of the summer, a move to China seemed likely, but now suggest that a return to Italy is most likely with newly promoted Crotone considering an offer. What is clear though, is that Balotelli does not fit with the Klopp style of play, only adding to the disaster that has been his £16 million move to Liverpool.
