‘He’s incredible’: Klopp raves about Liverpool star and says he can play in five positions

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Takumi Minamino after the forward scored in the 4-0 win over Arsenal yesterday.

The Japan international came off the bench and scored with his first touch to stick the seal on the victory.

Minamino has scored four goals now this season but this was his first in the Premier League during 2021/22.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Southampton, scoring twice in 10 appearances.

It had been anticipated that he might leave Liverpool again for this season, although Klopp opted to keep him around instead.

After his latest cameo performance, the Reds manager has heaped praise on the 35-cap international.

“You can’t imagine how happy I am with Taki.

“He is in an incredible moment, and today he was our solution (from the bench) for pretty much five positions!”

Minamino has been at Anfield since checking in from Red Bull Salzburg for in January 2020.

He has largely been utilised as a bit-part player, making 38 appearances and scoring eight goals.

Minamino will hope this latest goal can help him get more minutes under Klopp as the season progresses.

Minamino can be big player for Liverpool

With the games coming thick and fast – and the injuries stacking up again – Minamino could get plenty more chances come his way.

The player is slowly but surely acclimatising to the Premier League and he was in the right place at the right time to finish yesterday.

Minamino simply needs to gain some consistency but the fact he can play in a number of positions should help him.

His goal yesterday did him no harm and with Liverpool fighting for the title, the Champions League and still in the Carabao Cup, Minamino can be a big player for Klopp this season.
