Liverpool: Bid for Real Madrid star; rejection from Brazilian; Sakho update

With doubts over the future of Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli, another striker may well be necessary for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, and that man could be Real Madrid starlet Jese Rodriguez, claim the . Jese struggled for game time last season, and the situation is expected to be even worse next season, so Zinedine Zidane has told the player that he is free to leave.

The 23-year-old made just seven league starts last season, and Madrid are happy for him to allow on loan with a view to a permanent move with a buy back clause. Jese has undoubted potential, having scored 13 La Liga goals and has been capped at every youth level for the Spanish national side. With pace and power, he fits the Klopp profile for a striker, and may be available fairly cheaply should Liverpool beat off competition from the likes of Arsenal. Jese would certainly be an upgrade on either Benteke or Balotelli.

The Reds look set to miss out on Anderson Talisca days after reports of a £20 million bid, with the Benfica star instead looking set to sign for Championship club Wolves, say . The 22-year-old Brazilian is expected to sign for the club now that a Chinese takeover has been completed, with the new owners looking to spend big to propel their side back into the Premier League.

However, it seems that Liverpool’s interest was never quite as serious as may have been reported. Whilst a massive offer from Wolves may have been a convincing factor in his decision, the Reds would most likely have been able to match their offer financially. How Talisca fares in the Championship will dictate whether or not that decision by Liverpool not to match their offer, if they were interested, was a good one or not.

Jurgen Klopp has spoken out to ease fears over the future of French cult hero Mamadou Sakho after he was sent home from the club’s US tour. Klopp explained to that he was sent home after missing a flight, a training session and being late for a meal, but the German boss does not see it as a major issue.

Sakho is expected to rejoin the first team squad for training when they return from the tour, but is still nursing an Achilles problem which is expected to keep him out of action for the start of the season. The Frenchman was vital in the second half of last season under Klopp, and he looks set to form an important part of the squad yet again next season.

claim that Mamadou Sakho could be joined by another Frenchman in the form of Jordy Gaspar, Lyon’s 19-year-old right back. Yet to make a senior appearance, Gaspar has been involved with the club’s pre-season and Liverpool and Bayer Leverkeusen are said to be tracking the youngster.

Gaspar is currently third choice in the Lyon ranks but wants a better chance of first team football which may see him move. It would be interesting to see how an Anfield move would benefit him in that regard, with Jon Flanagan and Nathaniel Clyne looking comfortable as the two preferred choices.
