Liverpool should avoid Bergwijn after Depay’s Premier League failure

Liverpool have been superb recruiters since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp. report that the Reds are currently scouting PSV Eindhoven starlet Steven Bergwijn.

The attacker is capable of playing on either flank and he has been one of the standout players in the Eredivisie this season. Bergwijn has currently contributed four goals and four assists in the league. His performances earned him a first Dutch cap during the recent international break.

It is easy to see why Bergwijn is catching the eye in the Netherlands. The Eredivisie is a league that promotes attacking football and the 21-year-old is great to watch.

He is an excellent dribbler and able to produce moments of magic when he has the ball. Bergwijn is dynamic and always looking to make something happen. This season, he is averaging 2.9 shots, 1.9 key passes and 3.3 dribbles per game.

However, he has yet to prove that he can be selfless and contribute to the team’s defensive efforts. This would be a problem for Liverpool, as they demand every player works tirelessly for the team.

This was a problem that Manchester United had with Memphis Depay. Liverpool need to avoid making the same mistake as their rivals.
