Liverpool are trying to put together a deal to sign £40m player

Liverpool are yet to make a signing in this summer transfer window, but that could soon change.

The Reds are on the trail of Martin Zubimendi while Arne Slot’s side are also said to still be keen on Anthony Gordon.

Gordon has been linked with Liverpool for a while now, and it sounds as though the Merseyside club may be about to step up their interest in the man.

Indeed, according to Duncan Castles, speaking on , Liverpool are now trying to put together a deal to sign Gordon this summer.

Castles spoke about Gordon, claiming that Liverpool are trying to put a deal together to sign the winger.

“We know they tried to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle in one of those PSR exchange deals, where Joe Gomez would’ve gone to Newcastle,” Castles said.

“I understand they are still trying to put something together to bring Gordon to the club. I guess that would be seen as some sort of succession plan for Salah albeit playing off of the other wing.”

Anthony Gordon rumours aren’t going away

This has been the slowest of slow transfer windows from a Liverpool perspective, but this window could have a blockbuster ending.

Gordon could still end up at Anfield before the window is over, while Martin Zubimendi is also a player the Reds are keen on.

Arne Slot does need reinforcements if he’s to take this Liverpool side to the next level, and these two transfers could be just what Liverpool need to challenge Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table next season.

Whether or not this Gordon deal gets done remains to be seen, but it sounds as though Liverpool are indeed serious about signing the England international this summer.

Liverpool’s transfer window could still end up being very exciting.
