Liverpool’s stance on appointing Zinedine Zidane as new manager

Since Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave, Liverpool have been linked with plenty of names.

🦩The Reds haven’t had to worry about their manager for the better part of nine years now, so this will be a very difficult process.

Xabi Alonso is the name on everyone’s mind, and he is likely to be a target for Liverpool’s owners. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has also been linked with the Reds job.

Old Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has been named among potential options too, but one man who isn’t in contention is Zinedine Zidane.

ಌThe legendary Frenchman has been away from management since leaving Real Madrid back in 2021. He has been linked with plenty of jobs since, but he hasn’t seemed keen at all.

ꦚIn his column on , Ben Jacobs ruled him out of the Liverpool job too, as things stand.

๊He wrote: “Zinedine Zidane is not currently under consideration.”

Zidane isn’t the right man for Liverpool

♊Zinedine Zidane is a phenomenal manager, there’s absolutely no debate there.

The Frenchman, now 51, won 11 trophies during his time as Real Madrid boss, including three Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles.

Some Liverpool fans may prefer a manager with that kind of CV, but the Reds may need a big rebuild after Jurgen Klopp leaves, as 🍬Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk may follow him out of the door.

🧔Zidane, in our opinion, isn’t the man for a rebuilding job. That’s probably why he’s not in contention to replace Klopp at Anfield.
