Liverpool ace could benefit from Championship loan and become a top-flight hit next season

Having won the Premier League title at a canter this season the emphasis for Liverpool next season will be on their first defence.

Jurgen Klopp and his team won’t want to rest on their laurels and will crave more silverware during 2020/21.

Given what has happened in the world during 2020, finances might be tight for lots of football clubs heading into the summer transfer window.

As a shrewdly run ship, it would seem unlikely that Liverpool will be plunging millions into their squad ahead of next season.

With a plethora of young talent as his disposal, Klopp might choose to place even more faith into his emerging stars as an alternative way to shake up his squad.

One of those handed a chance to stamp their authority on the team could be striker Rhian Brewster.

Klopp called the academy prospect ‘ and a ‘ back in 2019 so he is clearly fancied.

The youngster is on fire during his loan at Swansea City, with his scrumptious free-kick earlier this week the highlight of his time at the club.

Brewster has six goals to his name and his ability has never been in question, certainly not with Klopp.

Development

For the 20-year-old the challenge has always been about confidence and building that up in the Championship will have helped no end.

Brewster won’t return to Liverpool and instantly oust one of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah or Sadio Mane, that much is certain.

What he could do, however, is return ready to challenge for their place and provide better competition from the bench than Divock Origi perhaps has done this season.

Brewster has the all-action, hardworking commitment to light up Anfield but the challenge for him next is to prove it to people.

The loan at Swansea should have done him the world of good and he could become a big player for Liverpool in the future.

With Liverpool likely to offload several squad players during the summer, places in the matchday 18 will be forthcoming.

Brewster will hope to be one of the lucky few to grasp an opportunity.
