Liverpool: £20million move for teenager; Sakho targeted by Palace; deal completed for defender

Liverpool could be set to try to steal a march on Chelsea, Everton and Bournemouth and a host of European competitors by making a January move for Leon Bailey, claim the . The 19-year-old has scored eight goals so far this campaign and has continued to catch the eye after making a breakthrough into the Genk first team last season.

His club value him at £20 million, but Bailey is known for his pace and is capable of playing on either flank so would be a suitable addition for Jurgen Klopp as he looks to add to his frontline.

The  also claim that Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace are the latest club to enter the race for Mamadou Sakho with the French defender’s future still up in the air despite months of speculation. Galatasaray and Sevilla are both interested but the Eagles are the latest team to consider a move.

The central defender is seen as the key to Premier League survival by the former Three Lions manager, with his experience at the highest level a likely factor in encouraging the club to make a move. The difficulty in agreeing the switch could be the size of the transfer fee.

One defender who is a step ahead of Sakho is Tiago Ilori, whose exit from the club was confirmed and reported by the  as he put pen to paper on a contract with Reading after a £3.75 million move to the Championship side. After various loan moves, a permanent exit has long seemed inevitable.

That represents a £250,000 profit on the Portuguese defender who was signed in the summer of 2013 under Brendan Rodgers but has failed to make an impression at the club. Now, he will look to reboot his career under Jaap Stam.
