While the latter two enjoyed illustrious careers at Ibrox, the former was released by the Gers in 2013 and went on to join Hamilton Academical.

The 21-year-old broke into the Accies first team in 2017 and was on the move to Aberdeen a year later.

To date, Ferguson has made for the Dons, registering an impressive 20 goals and 20 assists from midfield in all competitions.

He has been especially superb this season, with nine goals and three assists from just 15 competitive appearances.

In the Premiership, Ferguson has scored eight goals and claimed two assists, both of those coming in last night’s 2-0 win over Hibernian.

declared him their man of the match and wrote: “Hibernian failed to get a grip of this game and a large part of that was down to the work rate of the Aberdeen midfield.

“Lewis Ferguson played a key role in the opener, and looked strong once more throughout.”

Given Ferguson’s heroics for Aberdeen and links with Rangers, it would be a no-brainer signing as far as the Gers are concerned.

However, Ferguson is contracted to the Dons until 2024, and they won’t let him leave without a sizeable fee, so it wouldn’t be as straightforward for the Ibrox side as it first seems.
