‘Like the Arsenal of old’: BBC pundit says 23-year-old was truly ‘excellent’ v Burnley

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been described as “excellent” by BBC Sport pundit Neil Lennon.

The Gunners made it two consecutive victories in the Premier League on Saturday, running out 1-0 winners at Burnley.

Martin Odegaard scored a superb free kick in the 30th minute, which proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The Norwegian curled over the wall and into the back of the net after Ashley Westwood had clipped Bukayo Saka on the edge of the box.

Arsenal fans had a heart-in-mouth moment when Ramsdale brought Matej Vydra down in the box for an apparent penalty.

However, referee Anthony Taylor overturned the decision after reviewing the challenge on VAR.

Ramsdale made some fine saves throughout the game and was great at coming out for crosses.

And Lennon was impressed with the 23-year-old summer signing.

“Huge three points for Arsenal,” he told Radio 5 Live, via .

“Burnley wasted 45 minutes, the second half was more like them. But they’ll have regrets about this game for sure.

“At the time, I didn’t think it was a penalty. I thought Aaron Ramsdale was excellent.

“Clean sheet, another 1-0 win, it is like the Arsenal of old!”

Up next for Arsenal is AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup on Wednesday, followed by the North London Derby on Sunday.
